Ashley Tisdale Likes Her Men to Be ‘Mysterious Bad Boys’

Apr 09

Ashley Tisdale likes her men to be a little rough around the edges.

The upcoming Scary Movie V star, 27, dished about her preference in the opposite sex to Maxim for its May issue, saying, “There’s definitely a thing where I like the dark, mysterious bad boy.”

That said, she isn’t opposed to “surfer, blond frat guys,” whom she has also liked.

The former High School Musical star – who posed barely dressed for the magazine’s cover – says she’s “definitely old-school when it comes to dating.”

She went on to explain, “I’m not into the ‘game’ so much. If I like you, I’ll confront you and be open about it. Then I expect you to come after me.”

Tisdale’s relationships have included those with musician Jared Murillo and music video director Scott Speer.

Ashley Tisdale Spoofs Katniss In Scary Movie 5!

Oct 09

There are TWO Katnisses in Atlanta today!

Scary Movie 5 is currently filming in the same city as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire — but that isn’t stopping the spoof film from poking fun at the bloody franchise!

We spotted Ashley Tisdale sporting the same boots, camo pants, and a side braid, which appear to be styled after the District 11 Tribute.

From what we know about it, the film follows “three dancers — one veteran performer and two upstarts who are also best friends — who vie for the lead in a new production from a snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed director.”

We’re guessing Ashley’s dancer character auditions for Jennifer Lawrence’s part during this scene in the film.

At least a tryout scene would explain why The Tis’ co-star Erica Ash is wearing a what we’re told is a Black Swan costume. We’re guess that is the jumping off point for this installment? Black Swan? We guess that’s a horror movie…

Ashley Tisdale Takes Racy Role on ‘Sons of Anarchy’

Jun 11

There’s just something about Ashley Tisdale. Somehow, the actress whose career was launched by roles in films like High School Musical and on television programs like The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, has managed to win the attention of people like Kurt Sutter: The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the mind behind the dark, gritty, and thoroughly interesting Sons of Anarchy has enlisted Tisdale for a dark role. Tisdale is setting up to guest star on two episodes of the forthcoming fifth season of the FX series, playing a high-class prostitute named Emma Jean. That’s not quite in the same realm as “Bop to the Top.”

In addition to this role on SOA, Tisdale was slated to star on a CBS sitcom which was being developed by the great Louis CK and The Late Show and Seinfeld writer Spike Feresten, until CBS failed to order the pilot to series. But the question is: what exactly do the dark minds of Sutton and CK — two men who bleed artistic integrity, and fly as far from mainstream TV as the confines of the the medium will allow — see in a young actress whose primary connotations are with Disney and Nickelodeon?

Of course, this isn’t to say that Tisdale hasn’t done a good job with the roles she has been given. She’s energetic and spirited as Maddie Fatzpatrick, and bubbly and funny as High School Musical’s Sharpay Evans. But these are nowhere near what fans should expect to see in SOA’s fictional biker town of Charming, Calif.

Tisdale did enjoy a more adult role on the short lived CW dramedy Hellcats, which earned a fair share of positive critical reactions. But this doesn’t seem quite enough to fancy the Suttons and CKs of the world to Tisdale’s manner. Going through her professional history, you’ll find the mystery only thickens. Credits include Phineas and Ferb, Kim Possible, and a one-off appearance on the only late-’90s Nickelodeon show that you don’t remember fondly, 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd. There’s nothing there to really spark the interest of the guy who shot an episode of TV about a homeless man getting his head run over by a truck.

There’s only one possibility, dating back to the actress’ very first role on the big screen: Donnie Darko, the twisted, nightmarish mind-bender that was a fixture for emotionally tormented high schoolers through 2006. Tisdale had a brief scene as a harassed nerd named Kim, melding some mean-spirited humor with the film’s pulp of drama and psychological horror. Perhaps this small role was enough to instill interest in artists like Sutton and CK for the following decade. Perhaps both men saw this movie and thought, “This girl is going places.” And then proceeded to wait ten years to cast her in a project.

In any event, it’s encouraging to see the young starlet stretch her wings and try a new variety of work. Are you surprised by her next role?

Ashley Tisdale Splits from Boyfriend

Dec 15

Ashley Tisdale and music video director Scott Speer have called it quits after more than two years as a couple, PEOPLE confirms.

The former High School Musical star, 26, began seeing Speer, 29, in the spring of 2009.

While dating Speer, Tisdale said she was all about “a guy’s personality,” adding, “I like someone I can have fun with and who can be more laid-back than I am, because it calms me down.”

Before getting together with Speer, she dated musician Jared Murillo.

Ashley Tisdale Cheering Her New Workout-Heavy ‘Hellcats’ Role

Oct 05

Ashley Tisdale has much to be excited about when it comes to life after East High School. Following the third installment of the popular High School Musical, Tisdale has focused on her CW show, Hellcats, in which she plays a cheerleader. And while she still loves her narcissistic character in HSM, Tisdale said there are certain things about Hellcats that she prefers. “It’s awesome to be able to work out for your job all the time,” Tisdale told PEOPLE of her role that often has her in sports bras and short shorts. “I am constantly working out with my trainer. I’m on a more healthy diet. I have a cheat day, though. It’s a very healthy way of living, I must say. It’s a lot of fun.” Her cheat food? “Something involving bread or pasta.”

But the 25-year-old still embraces her days as a female antagonist on the Disney series, as well as her former cast mates. “The cast is growing up and we’re doing our own projects but I have to say there is a tight bond with all of us,” Tisdale told PEOPLE Sunday while hosting a party at Las Vegas’s Wet Republic. “We went through something that is so lucky and it’s something that does not happen every day and we have that connection. They are my best friends… It’s like second nature to us.”
